  1. how does a vegetarian get enough protein, some professionals say one needs .5 to .75 grams of protein per desired pound of healthy body weight, for a man of 180 lb, is 90 or more grams of protein per day? Too much is not good for those with kidney problem , yet most with Kidney problem are diabetics, who need considerable protein to retain and develop muscle for the ability to absorb and use more of sugar in blood?

      The formula for the protein needs of healthy adults is 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight and it is independent of gender. For a 180 pound male who would weigh about 81 kilograms his protein needs would be 65 grams per day. Protein needs do vary by age and health status.
